London, January 2008: Quadriga, the market leader in Europe and the Middle East in the provision of state-of-the-art digital entertainment and internet services to hotels, has signed a significant agreement with leading Hollywood studio Twentieth Century Fox giving it distribution rights to more top Blockbuster movies including ‘Die Hard 4’, ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘The Last King of Scotland’. For Quadriga this agreement forms part of a strategic review of its content suppliers, with the aim of ensuring that its hotel customers are able to offer their guests the best quality, choice and very latest in-room TV entertainment.
This agreement with Twentieth-Century Fox represents Quadriga’s first-ever direct studio deal, and is the first time a major Hollywood studio has signed a deal of this magnitude for the European hotel market. This means that Quadriga, as the leading provider of hotel entertainment and internet solutions across Europe and the Middle East, can secure the best selection of movies for its customers from across the Fox studio empire.
This deal complements a recently signed agreement with Filmbank Distributors, a joint venture between Warner Bros and Sony Pictures, as well as an existing relationship with UIP (United International Pictures). More agreements with specialist and local studios are anticipated in the near future as Quadriga further develops a wider and unparalleled content offering.
Quadriga is now able to offer an impressive choice of movie titles and entertainment content sourced from more than 16 of the top studios, including Universal, Paramount, Dreamworks, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures and Buena Vista International, as well as Twentieth Century Fox. When added to Quadriga’s market-leading hotel entertainment and internet solution, Genesis, this provides an exceptional package of content choice to its hotel customers and their guests.
Genesis offers a unique and comprehensive array of guest services. These include the latest blockbuster movies and popular music selections available on-demand, an unlimited choice of digital TV and radio channels and Internet on TV, as well as internet access for laptop users using either wired connection or WiFi. The wealth of on-demand content choice, so guests can watch or listen to what they want, when they want, is delivered via satellite to ensure it’s as up-to-date as possible. Hotels are able to pre-select content packages to meet their guest profiles and preferences, thus ensuring their entertainment content offering is appropriate and relevant to their specific guest requirements.
Myron Tataryn, Sales and Marketing Director for Quadriga comments, ‘We are delighted to now be able to offer to our hotel customers, through this agreement with Twentieth Century Fox, more depth, breadth and quality of choice of movie titles available on-demand. This, combined with the agreements in place with Filmbank Distributors and UIP, as well as an unlimited selection of digital TV and radio channels and a growing range of country specific and short content, all available to watch in a wide choice of languages, including Arabic and Russian for example, makes Quadriga’s Genesis solution a compelling proposition. With over 150,000 installed Genesis rooms, it is also providing many hotels today with an essential element of the all-important ‘home from home’ experience demanded by the discerning hotel guest – with something for everyone available to view on the in-room TV menu.’
According to Dave Smith, Vice President, Pay TV Sales & Channel Operations of Twentieth Century Fox, ‘We are delighted to license our film content to Quadriga, the leading provider of entertainment to the hospitality industry across Europe and the Middle East. We regularly seek new distribution opportunities and a combination of the scale of the Genesis customer base and its proven digital platform provide an ideal vehicle for Twentieth Century Fox to distribute its movies. This deal also represents for us a significant step into the provision of content directly to those partnering with European hotels.’
