The UK offices for Quadriga have been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard after taking action on climate change by measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions by nearly 10%. During the last year Quadriga has implemented a series of long term carbon reduction initiatives resulting in a reduction of 97 tonnes of CO2e from their carbon footprint.
The Carbon Trust Standard recognises organisations for real carbon reduction. Based on a rigorous, independent assessment, it certifies that organisations have measured, managed and reduced their carbon emissions across their own operations, and are committed to reducing them year on year.
Gary Marsh, operations director of Quadriga, said: “We’re delighted to have achieved the Carbon Trust Standard. It is a great way of showing that we are on the front foot when it comes to carbon management best practices, and gives us an opportunity to communicate our environmental credentials with integrity to those that matter.”
“Cutting carbon is a priority for us as a business and delivers tangible bottom-line benefits. We have already cut our carbon emissions by nearly 10% as part of the initiative and are committed to building on this success and making further reductions in the future. Going through the assessment process to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard helped us to not only quantify our footprint, but also benchmark our performance and identify areas for improvement bringing tangible and significant cost savings across our operations. In the current climate it’s essential that we remain competitive, and the Carbon Trust Standard is another way we can stay ahead of the game.”
The three main initiatives in gaining the Carbon Trust Standard were the installation of energy saving office lighting systems, adoption of a low emission policy for company cars, and a policy encouraging the switching off of redundant/idle office equipment. Quadriga worked with Briar Associates, to deliver staff awareness training on its carbon and energy reduction programme. Quadriga made office staff and security guards aware of the ways in which they could dramatically improve the energy efficiency of the company, and implemented motion detectors to cut energy inefficiencies. By raising awareness of simple but effective ways to cut carbon emissions, Quadriga has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard in its offices in Theale and Salford.
